German Task Group Port Visit Halifax 2000
The F.G.S. Lutjens is a Charles F. Adams Class Destroyer built by Bath Iron Works Maine, commissioning in March 1969. Since then she has been extensively upgraded most notably with the addition of RAM launchers fore and aft. Lutjens is 4460 tons, 134 metres long with a beam of 6 metres. Her weapons system consists of 2x FMC 5 inch guns, 1 Standard missile launcher capable of firing Standard SAM, or Harpoon SSM, 2x 21 cell RAM missile Launchers, 1 octuple ASROC anti submarine rocket launcher, 2 triple torpedo tubes, and 20 mm machine guns.
