First and foremost, I enjoy spending my life in the company of my loving Wife, Daughter and Bonnie, Fast Attack Dog MK IV.
I am an avid Naval enthusiast, I enjoy photography, touring warships, naval history and keeping up on naval technology. I also model modern warships, and collect naval memorabilia, with an emphasis on crew caps, and challenge coins. I am very active in Dog training and in particular, the German Shepherd breed. I hold certificates in Dog training for Law Enforcement, as well as Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, Emergency Management and, Police Sciences (Honors) diplomas. My family are steadfast supporters of the SPCA and the ASPCA. Music figures prominently in our lives, particularly my guitar collection, and fostering the love of music in my daughter. I am also a college student, albeit, a middleaged one. My Dodge Challenger has brought me into the realm of the Auto enthusiast, what an incredible piece of kit!
Living in Halifax has a lot to do with my fondness for all things naval, as well as being raised in a Navy family in married quarters! My Father served 32 years in His/Her Majesty's Canadian Ships, and the rest of his life in the Navy Ship Repair Unit. I am in no way connected with the Navy today, I just have a tremendous respect and appreciation for the difficult job they do (and the families they leave behind), and a desire to demonstrate my support for the Men and Women of the Canadian Navy, and indeed, Naval personnel throughout the world, through my photography.
That's what this web site is all about.....
Since discovering my Fathers copy of "Janes Fighting Ships 1969-70" at the age of six, It has been my goal to have a picture published in this excellent reference.
Having pictures published in Ron Barrie and Ken Macphersons book "Ships of Canda's Naval Forces Vol 3", was a great honor for me. I have done some advertising work for several Defence Contractors as well. As to Ambitions, I would like to get to sea and record warships in their native environment, doing what they do best. I would also like to visit Navy Bases, museums and historic ships worldwide and to add to the quantity and quality of pictures available to visitors of my sites. In short, I would like this site to become a valuable web based ship recognition/shipmodelling reference, in it's own right. My recent odyssey to Australia, has developed into its own subsite, the Australian edition. I look forward to building upon that site in the near future, with a return trip. Perth, Darwin, Cairns, and a return to Melbourne, and the city I love, Sydney, on the agenda. Completing my degree, and raising a healthy happy young woman are among my goals, and I'm pleased to say both goals are progressing exceptionally well!
Although The War on Terrorism has understandably imposed rigid restraints on access to Warships, I shall endeavour to provide at least a couple of shots of each vessel I encounter, to the extent security and other conditions permit. Museum ships will become more of a focus for the site for now. Other ambitions include publishing a book on Canada's Naval History...stay tuned ;-)
I would like to thank Glenn Ward, Ron Barrie, Sandy Mcclearn, Kevin Dunn & Family, Dave Shirlaw, Jerry Proc, Dave Freeman, Darren Scannell, Mike Leonard, and David Prabhu for their wise counsel and friendship. Macs wouldnt be the same without their wisdom and input. This site is dedicated individually, by page. Overall the site is dedicated to the memory of my parents; and to Sailors and their families, wherever they may be. We share a special bond. "Strength through Adversity" is a motto, that comes to mind for navy families. To Kathy, Rachael, Sharon, Shiela, Wendy, Chris, and Mairi, my foundation, this site couldnt be without your love and support through the good times and bad. You are never far from my thoughts....
