The Canadian Patrol Frigate Program comprises twelve ships, based on Canada's East Coast at Halifax, Nova Scotia, and West Coast at Esquimalt, British Columbia. All C.P.F.s are named after Canadian Cities. They are amongst the most advanced and potent ships of their type in the world.
With a displacement of 4,750 tonnes, and a length of 442 feet, the ship is capable of attaining 29 knots, and stopping from full power in a ships length. She boasts a robust weapon system, including 16 Vertically launched Sea Sparrow Surface to air missiles, 8 Harpoon Surface to surface missiles, Mk-46 Torpedos, 1 Bofors 57mm cannon, 1 Phalanx Close in weapon system, and 6 machine guns. She also carries countermeasures in the form of Plessey Shield decoy launchers, and Nixie anti torpedo system. She is further equipped with a Sea King Helicopter which greatly extends the ships ASW punch, as does Cantass, The Canadian Towed Array Sytem. The ships also generate Naval Boarding Parties, which is the rough equivalent of a SWAT team, for interdiction, and inspections.
